Willem de Rooij: Ebb Rains, 11 February–25 March

The Institute of Modern Art (IMA) is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Australia of renowned Berlin-based Dutch artist Willem de Rooij: Ebb Rains, opening: 11 February, 5–9pm.

De Rooij is a highly influential artist and educator, through his long-time role at the Städelschule in Frankfurt, Germany, and a practice that spans two decades. A survey of recent works, IMA’s exhibition reflects on the Dutch colonial presence in the Asia-Pacific region and makes subtle reference to more recent instances of empire and intervention in the natural world.

Please join us for the exhibition preview at 5pm, where IMA members and patrons receive a complimentary glass of Howard Park Jeté Brut Blanc NV.

From 6pm, drinks will be served by Caxton St Catering and pizza available from Pizzaantica, and from 7pm artist Hannah Brontë will DJ.

Free admission, all welcome. RSVP to the event here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/exhibition-opening-willem-de-rooij-tickets-31475722734.
