While predicting the future is best left in the hands of psychics and tarot readers, several unexpected experiences across Brisbane aim to explore what’s to come. For those that find the idea of futuristic cars and immersive experiences exciting and have been counting down the days until Back to the Future starts to feel more real, then we’ve got the line-up for you. From sky-high dining to multi-level puzzle hotels, these one-of-a-kind experiences prove that the future is well and truly here.

Five futuristic experiences in Brisbane

After winning the 2023 Car Design Award 'Concept Car Of The Year', The Genesis X Convertible is heading Down Under to cruise through Australia. There’s no wonder that leading luxury car manufacturer Genesis took out the award with the classic car’s futuristic additions, which include a wraparound driver console and a foldable roof that makes you feel more connected to the environment. Be sure to check it out when it stops in Brisbane from February 27 to March 11.

For those that have a fear of heights, look away now. Vertigo is Australia’s first vertical restaurant where you can enjoy a three-course meal and a wine from Bar Alto with skyline views, all while your feet are dangling over the edge of the Brisbane Powerhouse 17 feet up in the air.

Whoever thought hotels were just for staying the night, wasn’t thinking big enough. This world-first concept of interactive challenges takes place across a multi-level New York-styled hotel. Here, there are no beds or ensuites in the rooms – instead you’ll find a giant cereal bowl ball pit, a floor of lava, or a neon polka dot world. From the genius minds at Funlab, Hijinx Hotel combines silly fun for all-ages with a competitive edge where no two rooms are the same.

Inside a heritage listed building you can now find Oche – an electronic darts destination where the days of tracking your score on a blackboard are long gone. Originating in Oslo, this future-looking game uses surrounding cameras with extreme precision to track your points. Grab a booth, a bite to eat and a cocktail where you can choose from a long list of classics. Curious what the venue looks like? Explore it in 3D yourself on the website.
