The Cloudland Collective says
In the early 1970s the Builders Labourers Federation imposed 40 green bans on development sites around Sydney. The bans protected public housing, traditional working class communities, parklands and bushland. The BLF used their immense industrial power to create a new framework for thinking about the city - planning decisions should benefit the community and the environment not big business.

Merdith Burgmann, Peter Murphy and Allan Anderson will provide a unique analysis of the green bans and how the BLF fought to take back the city of Sydney. Footage from the film "Rock the Foundations" will support our speakers' description of this special time in Australian labour history.
