Western GuGuYelanji songman delivers his soulful sounds with captivating lyrics and an honest love of country. Hailing from Far North Queensland, the artist has a unique way of delivering his distinctive songs in a subtle yet powerful way. Having honed his skills on stages over the past 20 years performing with family and as part of the hit soul group Aim for More and Banawurun, he has launched his solo career with the upcoming release of “Western Sons” which will be released nationally in November 2015. This album sits alongside his debut into the theatre world with his piece of the same name created as part of the Playwrites Australia Festival in conjunction with Opera Australia. Troy is being booked across Australia, is regularly played on NITV and is sought out for his gifts as a workshop facilitator and arts practitioner mentoring youth and adults. He has performed in Los Angeles at the Muse Expo World Music Conference, won Deadly awards and is a MusicOz Award nominee. Other stages include at Bryon Bay Blues and Roots Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, QMusic Awards, and the National NAIDOC Awards.
