South Dallas Cultural Center says
This year, internationally acclaimed artist Elizabeth Catlett would be 100 years old. To celebrate her legacy, South Dallas Cultural Center will have a community day long event that will engage everyone in visual art activities, performing arts events and film that honor her work and activism. We are also inviting poets, musicians, dancers and theater artists to use the work included here as inspiration for the creation of a piece that you can perform at our Catlett Legacy Performing Arts Showcase. This will be run like an open mic and all artists need to confirm their participation by April 21, 2015. Celebrating the Elizabeth Catlett Legacy will happen Saturday April 25, 2015 starting at 10 am until 12 midnight. Email Harold Steward at harold.steward@dallascityhall.com to join us! All activities are free and open to the public.
