Off the Record is excited to launch the newest event in the High Fidelity series: Crate Dating-- a one-of-a-kind, record-store specific speed dating experience catering specifically to music fans. Any audiophile will tell you that the most important quality they’re looking for in a potential mate is taste in music. With all the technological advances in the world of dating, there’s still no platform, online or face-to-face, that will help you meet people who care about music as much as you do-- until now. Third Thursdays, 8pm-11pm.

Forget sign-up sheets, name tags, or chair hopping from stranger to stranger like an assembly line. Crate Dating works like this:

The first hour is the initial dig, think of it as setting up your online dating profile (in real life). Browse through our 2k unit record stock, and pick an album that speaks to your interests, something you could have a conversation about.

Once you’ve made your pick, drop it at the DJ booth, into one of four Date Crates most relative to your dating status (Men Seeking Women, Women Seeking Men, Women Seeking Women, Men Seeking Men).

The second hour is Ladies’ Dig, when all participating women will dig through the Date Crate most relative to their ideal mate’s dating status. The third hour is Men’s Dig.

When it’s your turn to dig through the Date Crates, you want to pull the record that most piques your interest, then you’ll take it, along with a table-top record tripod, to a seat at the bar or tables to display it for all to see.

When the original selector notices you with their pick of Marvin Gaye’s “I Want You” or Parquet Courts’ “Sunbathing Animal”, they’ll join you for a drink, share some thoughts on Gaye’s layered vocal harmonies or the process of relocating a band from North Texas to New York, or maybe even a love connection.

At Off The Record, we believe that some of the most substantial relationships of your life will start with conversations about music. That’s why we’re launching the High Fidelity series-- a collection of locally-focused events that support growth and creativity in the Dallas music scene through good ol’ fashioned face-to-face community engagement.
