Join Deep Vellum Publishing on March 18th at The Wild Detectives bookstore in the Bishop Arts District to celebrate the release of their second published book, legendary Mexican literary maestro Sergio Pitol's The Art of Flight, translated by Dallas' own George Henson. March 18th is not only the day after the book officially comes out to the public, but it also happens to be Sergio Pitol's 82nd birthday!! What better way to celebrate Pitol's first ever work to appear in English than with a birthday & release party! Deep Vellum's founder and publisher will lead a fun reading and discussion with special guests: Pitol's translator George Henson, professor Dr. Ignacio Ruiz-Perez from UT-Arlington (who was mentored by Maestro Pitol at the University of Veracruz in Xalapa), and Rodolfo Mendoza-Rosendo, the Director of Veracruz Cultural Institute in Xalapa (and who is Pitol's closest friend, advisor, and confidant). This absolutely unique celebration of Pitol's his life and literary work, will begin at 7pm and is free to the public. Feel free to bring your copy of The Art of Flight to the event and have the translator sign your copy, or pick up a copy at The Wild Detectives!
