Vice Palace: Year One

WHAT: VICE PALACE: YEAR ONE is a cultural retrospective celebrating the creative community of Dallas and the first anniversary of VICE PALACE. VP:YR1 will showcase five acts and two fashion designers that have been nominated by 5 entities and VICE PALACE. 100% of the door goes to the artists in an effort to support the endeavors of local talent. Tickets will be $15 for the ENTIRE event. WHO: The following entities will nominate one act each to participate in VP:YR 1: CENTRAL TRACK / Dallas-focused cultural website founded by Pete Freedman that specializes in covering music, restaurants, bars, nightlife, fashion, sports, art and anything else connected to the most happening events in town on a given week. Central Track has been named BEST MUSIC BLOG multiple times by the Dallas Observer and has curated music events for Red Bull Sound Selects. CROWN & HARP / Under the management of Dallas music enthusiast and community builder Moody Fuqua, C&H has become a staple amongst the cities venues for experimental and progressive programming. In addition to being nominated for BEST TALENT BUYER in 2014 by the Dallas Observer Fuqua was recently tapped to be the Live Music Event Coordinator for Josey Records. DALLAS DISTORTION MUSIC (DDM) / Dallas record label DDM is the brainchild of Evan Henry who started booking rad shows and producing tapes under his label while still in high school. DDM recently won BEST RECORD LABEL in 2014 from the Dallas Observer and has organized some of the most exciting shows in memory. DDM is the future of Dallas music. KING CAMEL / Formed in 2013 by Jeffery Brown, King Camel has showcased local and national musicians in such venues as Double Wide, Club Dada and Ft. Worth’s Lola’s Saloon. KC’s series of shows “Local Education” at Three Links has provided a platform for Dallas acts in one of Deep Ellum’s top venues and in 2014 King Camel organized the first “Have a Heart” benefit event at Trees to help support and raise awareness for Dallas resident John Bullard, who struggles with Cerebral Palsy. THRWD / A local publication that has gone from small time zine to a full on Dallas media conglomerate. On top of being named BEST LOCAL ZINE by the Dallas Observer in 2014, THRWD books music shows, hosts parties at various venues and keeps tabs on Dallas’ underground art and culture. VICE PALACE / VP is a roving DIY music venue that has occupied multiple warehouses throughout West Dallas, various galleries, the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, behind the screen at the historic Texas Theater and was nominated for BEST NEW MUSIC VENUE by the Dallas Observer in 2014. VP will select two Dallas based fashion designers for the event. WHEN/ WHERE: VP: YR1 will take place APRIL 25, 2015 at 500 SINGLETON, a 30,000sqft warehouse located in West Dallas.
