Debajo del Agua

Debajo del Agua has been a pillar of the artivist musical community in the Mile High City for over a decade. While their musical style is not easily categorized or defined, it is focused on fusing hip hop with the melodies of Andean music, samba, son, salsa, cumbia, reggae, and reggaeton, creating a flavorful blend of melodies, spiced up with a style of its own. The members of Debajo del Agua span the Americas coming from Chile, Peru, El Salvador, Mexico, and the United States. Their sound has been described by Westword as "the Gypsy Kings backing a trio of forceful Emcee's spitting tongue-twisted, politically charged, trilingual rhymes with a tangible, fiery, conviction. Or Ozomatli's more interesting long lost cousins." Debajo del Agua's live performances are legendary, providing the listener with a unique opportunity to connect with community and heal on the dance floor!

ArteCura is a collective of musicians from South & Central America based in the Mile High City and/or perhaps Pluto. Their music mixes a wide range of genres from Latin-hiphop to son, reggae, dancehall, rumba-flamenca, and Andean music. The collective joined forces in 2016, when some members of the Latin-hiphop ensemble, Debajo del Agua linked up with the Cornejo-Verdejo brothers, originally from Santiago, Chile. Their live performances feature emcee Pablo Kee from Debajo del Agua and The Soul Pros rhyming over Latin American strings and Andean wind instruments. The name ArteCura translates to "art heals" or "art cures" and is based on the knowledge the music is a universal language; music is medicine.

Yucasoul (Stephen Smith-Contreras) is a Los Angeles based DJ, producer, and percussionist. As a DJ and producer, Yucasoul tastefully blends folkloric sounds from the African diaspora with eclectic modern underground beats, chords, and melodies. His vibe ranges from lounge to the dance floor and beyond. His sound has been greatly influenced by Afro-Latin music, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Soul. As a percussionist, Yucasoul has worked with top tier musicians both on stage and in the studio, and has performed internationally. His deep interest in percussion has driven him to study with master drummers in Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Peru and the United States. His style stems from Afro-Cuban, and Afro-Brazilian percussion traditions, and their fusion with Jazz, Funk, and Hip Hop. He holds a graduate degree in Ethnomusicology.
