The event creator says
DEAR READERS, WRITERS, and DWELLERS: Denver has served as a waystation for a number of iconic bohemians since its founding in 1858, receiving visits from Walt Whitman, Mark Twain, and more recently, the Beat Generation, which group of artists it nurtured, and for whom it served as a nerve center. The clashing of their ideologies with the normative influence in part produced Denver culture. What would it be like if those vaunted forebears ventured back for a look at modern-day Denver? Who yet lives as they lived then? Who yet reveres the organic lessons of these free spirits, when so many seem driven by commodity, consumed by artificiality? Who has turned the technological advances to their best end? What does the word "counter culture" mean now? Astute commentary on all these inquiries AND MORE will be presented by authors JON LESLIE (Down in Denver, forthcoming), photographer MARK SINK, who will introduce the little known history of Denver’s underground fine art photographers from the 1940s to today and their relation to Contemporary Art and the Beat scene of their time, ZACK KOPP (The Denver Beat Scene, others) and GUESTS at MUTINY INFORMATION CAFE, 2 So. Broadway at 3 PM on the afternoon of March 26th for your social edification and literary enjoyment. Thanks for all you do!
