Through fascinating stories and deep personal experiences, Mike will guide you into deeper understanding of the essential elements of Kirtan.

You will learn about:
* Deities
* Mantras
* Sanskrit
* Saints
* History of Bhakti Yoga
* Energetic qualities of deities and chants

Of course, there will LOTS of chanting throughout!

This fun introductory program offers a safe space for beginners to flesh out their understanding around Kirtan AND take a gentle step into leading others in the practice of sacred chant.

A limited number of program participants can choose to be guided in leading the group in a simple, yet powerful, chanting experience. You will be supported by Mike as you play the harmonium and chant to lead the group into a heart opening experience.

All participants receive an e-copy of a well-organized and useful 30-page booklet titled A Bhakti Yoga Perspective on Kirtan and a free download of Mike’s debut CD Om Dattatreya: Journey to the West.

About Mike:
Mike Cohen, MA, founder of Kirtan Leader Institute, loves working with those who feel called to share Kirtan with others, and who possess big ambitions around personal development and contribution through Kirtan. Mike guides his students to build thriving chant communities, lead with power and grace, write compelling original music, tour, play at festivals, create albums and, along the way, transform who they are being in the world.
A life-long musician with 15 years experience developing leaders, Mike created a proven methodology for training and apprenticing Kirtan Leaders based around four relevant domains for leading Kirtan: Musicianship, Embodied Leadership, Community Building and Spirituality. Mike teaches within the discourses of Western and Indian music, Somatics, Integral, Ontology, Enneagram, Embodied Leadership and Dattatreya Spirituality to help Kirtan Leaders build skill and confidence in serving others through the ancient/modern practice of sacred chant. Since 2010 Mike has trained and apprenticed hundreds of aspiring and emerging Kirtan Leaders across the globe.

Mike released critically acclaimed albums in 2009 (Om Dattatreya) and 2012 (Soul Contact). For a decade he has shared Kirtan across North America, offering accessible and potent Kirtan events in yoga studios, healing centers and at yoga/chant festivals. Mike was honored to be invited to lead Kirtan immediately before the legendary Krishna Das at 2015 Bhakti Fest Midwest. His fall 2015 One Heart One Soul West Coast tour shared 30+ events from Seattle to LA – and all points between. Mike’s latest recording project with Ben Leinbach (longtime producer for Jai Uttal) is scheduled for release in 2016. Mike currently lives in Boulder, CO where he leads Kirtan, trains Kirtan Leaders and offers coaching, training, leadership development and mediation services.
