BookBar's Local Author Happy Hour is a monthly program, held every second Saturday of the month. From 5pm to 6pm, several local authors will be at BookBar signing their latest releases. Throughout the hour, BookBar offers half-priced drinks. Grab yourself a glass of Malbec or one of our seasonal drafts, meet local authors and grab a copy of something new.

This month's local authors:

Alice Borodkin - Caught Between the Bettys

Her goal today is to serve as an advocate for women, kindling the passion and leadership abilities of individuals who desire to make a difference in the world. Caught Between the Bettys, her first book, sheds light on the woman’s experience of the fifties, sixties and seventies through Alice’s eyes. She relates how women had difficult choices to make as feminism gradually entered the scene, and how making those choices could often lead to misunderstanding but also be very gratifying. Her hope is that her memoir will shed new light on those interesting and challenging years while inspiring women to seek leadership roles.

John A. Daly - Blood Trade (Sean Coleman Thriller #2)

Sean Coleman is back in the latest thriller from John A. Daly, set in the mountains of Winston, Colorado.

Six months after the murder of his uncle, Sean is trying to get his life together. He’s stopped drinking, he’s taking better care of himself, and he’s working hard to keep a fledgling security business afloat. At a blood plasma bank Sean frequents to earn extra income, he meets the distraught relative of Andrew Carson, a man who went missing weeks earlier on the other side of the state, with a pool of blood in the snowy driveway of his home as the only clue to the man’s fate.

Sean decides to help in the search for Carson and quickly finds himself immersed in a world of deception, desperation, and danger—a world in which nothing is what it seems, and few can get out of with their lives.

Johnny Welsh - Weedgalized in Colorado

Weedgalized in Colorado is a lighthearted and surprisingly informative read, featuring on-the- ground stories from scores of participants in Colorado’s historic transformation into a cannabis- friendly state. The book doubles as a reference guide, listing dispensaries, strains and more.

Johnny Welsh’s unique perspective stems from his career as a professional bartender in the heart of Colorado’s famous ski country. His big, engaging personality encouraged friends and strangers alike to share what they have seen and heard about the state’s new cannabis culture.

Weedgalized in Colorado contains interviews with characters ranging from the “Town Stoner” to the county Sheriff, as well as dispensary owners, dealers, growers, tour guides, entrepreneurs and even movie producers looking for their next blockbuster.
