Please join us for the opening receptions of two shows: 'Pixel Palette' in the main gallery and 'Formations,' a solo show by Sarah Winkler, in Gallery 101.

Pixel Palette, our first-ever showcase of digital painting, brings together artists from across the United States to feature digital paintings for Denver’s Month of Prints celebrations, a city-wide event in which most galleries will display prints throughout March.

Featured artists: Andrew Theophilopoulos, Em Borjon, Ilya Shkipin, Katie Holzman, Steve Kim, Sara Wilson, Zachary Madere, Tobin Lee, Risa Aqua, Daniel Foust, Niran Jacob, Annie Aqua, Clay Brooks, Cayce Goldberg, Solomon Gamino, Rob Jordan, and Lindsay Gurtzenmacher.

'Formations: The Constructed Landscape,' is a solo show of new work by Sarah Winkler. Sarah Winkler’s work lies “at the boundaries of realism and abstraction, modernism and minimalism.” In this exhibition of new work by the British-born artist, we are drawn into the rich and varied landscapes she constructs through her layered approach, the imagery inspired by mountainous Colorado surroundings and Western Deserts but ultimately formed by her signature aesthetic. Sarah says of her approach: “my layered and sectional painting process mimics the addition and subtraction of geological textures, over time, in landscape formation. Sketches and ideas are hashed out in drawings and torn paper collages using my own fabricated papers and imagery. I build up the larger paintings in sections and treat each area to a different “erosion” technique. By applying paint in this way, I am creating a history of gestures and actions that form into naturalistic abstracted landscapes with painted geological textures.”

Entry to the exhibit is free and open to the public, with complimentary food and drink. The entire listing of works will be available online at www.helikongallery.com/shop following the opening.
