Highly regarded in the century following his death but virtually unheard of now, Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione (1609-64) was an Italian draughtsman, painter and inventor of the monotype technique. The Royal Collection is home to the world's largest collection of his existing drawings, which will be displayed alongside contextual information on Castiglione's turbulent life.
