Lapland will be accessible from more European cities than ever in winter 2026–2027

Dreaming of seeing the Northern Lights, exploring snow-covered fells or meeting Santa Claus? Getting to Lapland is about to become even easier, with several new international flight routes launching to airports in northern Finland for winter 2026–2027.
According to airport operator Finavia, routes to ten new European destinations will be introduced from Lapland’s airports during the 2026–2027 winter season. Growing interest from travellers in Central Europe and the UK is particularly evident in airlines’ expanding flight schedules.
Rovaniemi is Lapland’s busiest airport, with a total of 37 routes operating during the winter season. Kittilä will have 15 routes, Kuusamo nine, Ivalo eight and Kemi-Tornio two.
New direct flights include connections from Munich to Rovaniemi and Ivalo, Amsterdam to Kittilä and Brussels to Kemi-Tornio. Travellers will also be able to fly direct to Rovaniemi from Prague and Newcastle.
For travellers within Finland, Helsinki Airport remains the country’s main flight hub. Finnair flies to all five northern airports and will significantly increase its services to Lapland during the winter season. Norwegian also operates flights from Helsinki to Rovaniemi.
The international aviation winter season begins on October 25 2026 and ends on March 27 2027.
