Rovaniemi’s classic hotel, Scandic Pohjanhovi, has revealed a fresh new look just in time for the winter season. The hotel has undergone an extensive renovation that brings together Lapland’s calm tones, authentic materials and the clean lines of its original functionalist identity.

The building’s technical systems have been modernised, 52 rooms refurbished and the lobby, bar and restaurant updated. With a gym overlooking the Kemijoki river and new event spaces, Pohjanhovi is now more versatile than ever – there’s room for up to 350 guests. The restaurant’s festive Christmas lunches begin on 9 December, and the atmospheric Valkoinen Peura (White Deer) cabinet is ideal for intimate gatherings.

Families are especially well catered for: spacious rooms, bunk beds and dedicated activity spaces make holidays easy and fun. There’s a colourful playroom for younger children, and a relaxed games and hangout area for teens.
