Matthew Bourne brings dance to the Tim Burton tale

A return to The Lowry for the balletic adaptation of the delightful Tim Burton gothic fairy tale in which an innocent boy with scissors for hands finds acceptance in a small American community and finds love, only to fall foul of prejudice at the non-metallic hands of those seeking to get something from him.

Matthew Bourne uses Danny Elfman’s film score - as well costumes and sets resembling those in the movie - to bring the film to life on the stage, with a chorus of dancers led by Dominic North. Key scenes such as the ice sculpture and hedge clipping are included, too.
