Best known as the musical motif throughout David Lean's 'Brief Encounter', Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto is joined by pieces from Grieg, Elgar and Neilsen's Second Symphony. Each movement represents the four medieval humours that were believed to form the human personality: choleric, phlegmatic, melancholic and sanguine.
