Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra says
Gemma New, Resident Conductor of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, will lead the Philharmonic in this all-Russian program, featuring our own concertmaster Rimma Bergeron-Langlois performing the dazzling Violin Concerto of Tchaikovsky. Shostakovich's brilliant response to Stalin's condemnation of his artistic style, written under fear of arrest and death, unfolds in his Symphony No. 5. A world premiere by young Russian composer, violinist, violist and arranger Lev Zhurbin (Ljova) opens this dramatic program.
