17 Border Crossings At Fringe World 2016 says
17 BORDER CROSSINGS is an inventive tour-de-force that provides a trip around the world via storytelling at its most effortlessly fluent.

It starts with a man at a desk and ends up anywhere but. The itinerary: a worse-for-wear Communist-era train travelling from Prague to Belgrade, the wheel well of a transatlantic jet to Heathrow, and 15 other border crossings recreated with magnetic, offhand charm by Thaddeus Phillips.

Climb aboard true-life journeys that recreate invasive body searches at Charles de Gaulle, run-ins with Ace of Base on Croatian ferries, KFC smuggling in Palestine, and ayahuasca experiments in the Amazon in this captivating contemplation of passports, international travel and rites of passage.

The Australian premiere of this work comes after appearing at Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Next Wave Festival and touring Edinburgh, Colombia, Italy, Spain, Costa Rica and the USA.

"Powerful, vivid storytelling... both enjoyable and enlightening." The Scotsman

"Witty, gently erudite and humane tales illustrate the absurd, haphazard nature of borders." The Times

"Phillips is a fluid, shifting storyteller, something of a conjuror. As a piece of performance it is technically brilliant, dizzyingly so." The Stage UK

Catch it this February at Summer Nights as part of FRINGE WORLD 2016.
