Grow says
Thank you to everyone who came to our last event, FOOTSTEPS. We had a great night: we all opened up and it feels like we really got somewhere. But now…well, it’s a big world out there. And we’re not sure we’re ready. We need to talk about it. So, to that end, we present our next event…

GROW (verb):
1. undergo natural development by increasing in size and changing physically.
2. come into existence and develop
3. become larger or greater over a period of time; increase.

You’ve come a long way, and you’ve been growing since day one. Tell us all about it. Did it hurt? Do you feel like a grown-up yet? Have you grown apart from any parents/friends/lovers? And did absence actually make the heart grow fonder? Do you just like flowers?

Join us on WEDS 22nd JUNE at Paper Mountain and expand your horizons: 10 OPEN MIC SPOTS AVAILABLE. Five minutes each. Five will be available on our Facebook an hour before the event, and five at the venue. Make sure to get in early if you want to secure one.
Speaking of expanding your horizons, prepare yourself for the energetic, intimate, occasionally rhyming poetry of our features, BEN FINCHAM DE GROOT and MELANIE KNIGHT. Expect sadness and joy simultaneously. Expect spectacle and spectacles and, above all, expect a backflip even though you’re probably not going to see one.

MC and Human Fruit, JESSIE APPLEYARD will also be on hand to grow her hair live on mic.

Don’t forget to keep an eye on our Instagram @spokenwordperth for more from our feature poets in the lead up to the event. We hope to see you.
Doors at 19:00 / Performance starts 19:30 / $5 entry
