Heroes says
At our next event, HEROES, we want to hear about your triumphs. We want to hear about the battles you’ve won, the evils you’ve vanquished and the great responsibilities you have taken on in accordance with all the great power you possess. We want you to tell us your origin story in a brand new way. We want to know what superpower you would choose and how you’d use it to save the world.
Tell us about your hero’s journey. Make it epic and ancient or action-packed and contemporary. Hold up signs that say KAPOW. Tell us about your own heroes and who they’re saving. Tell us what makes a person brave or strong and explain to us the difference between right and wrong. Hell, tell us if we really need heroes at all, or if they just make us every day civilians complacent.

Join us Weds 14th September and we’ll give you five minutes to save the world with one of our TEN OPEN MIC SPOTS. Five spots will be available on our Facebook an hour before the event and five at the venue itself. Spots are first-come, first-serve and fill up fast, so make sure to be on time if you want to secure one.
In order to inspire you even further, citizen, we’ve also arranged for two truly powerful poets to perform at HEROES: D. PATCH MILLER and SCOTT-PATRICK MITCHELL, who’ll both be swinging by on the night to poem with all their might.

MC/Human Fruit, JESSIE APPLEYARD will also be on hand to introduce performers, fight petty crime and lift the patriarchy over her head and spin it around.

Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram (@spokenwordperth) for more from our features in the lead up to the event and, as always, we hope to see you.
Doors at 19:00.
Performance starts 19:30
Entry $5.
