Free Course presented by the City of Perth’s Northbridge Piazza supported by Ableton.

Are you a musician or instrumentalist who wants to start making your own recorded music? Are you a budding music producer who wants to make better beats? Are you a live performer or theatre maker interested in taking your Sound Design to the next level? Are you a Game or Filmmaker wanting to upskill in Audio Production?

Make a Noise! is a free course presented by the City of Perth’s Northbridge Piazza that provides hands-on experience in producing, mixing, and sound design within the industry-leading software for live sound and music performance - Ableton Live. The course will be led by Perth Composer, Sound Designer and Ableton Live Certified Trainer, Josh Hogan, who brings a wealth of knowledge having composed for film and games, live theatre, and dance.

Throughout the course, students will learn sound and digital audio fundamentals, as well as audio mixing in Ableton. As the student, you will also learn various music production techniques such as music sequencing, arranging, automation, skills using virtual instruments (e.g. synths, samplers, and drum machine plugins), and working with MIDI and MIDI controllers for both the studio and live performance. A range of Sound Design topics will also be covered, from editing and creating your own sound effects, to using Ableton for Live Sound Design performance.

Make a Noise Youth Programme and Competition.

Fifteen places in this course are reserved for High School age students in Creative Programmes such as Music, Theatre, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts and Media. This is a fantastic opportunity for budding young creatives to explore and develop skills in Music and Sound Production.
