PICA - Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts says
“Sometimes there is a work that is so refreshingly provoking that it leaves you in a state of euphoria.” - Aussie Theatre

This is the story of a man, a woman, and a duck.
It is about the excruciating realms of human behaviour.
It is an attempt to navigate the moral and ethical complexities of trying to become a better person.

An incident lasting all of ten minutes is examined from three different points of view: a woman is out running and sees a man throwing stones at a sitting duck. What happens next leaves the woman getting to grips with the event and its consequences.

Threaded between observations and memories of this brief encounter are philosophical musings about peace and conflict, moral relativism, the ethics of intervention and the very function of art.

Shot through with wry humour and accompanied by a rhythmic electronic soundscape by composer Kelly Ryall, choreography by Jo Lloyd and lighting by Niklas Pajanti, these layers build a work in perpetual motion; a hypnotic feedback loop.

In attempting to deal with an ethical dilemma, Nicola Gunn/SANS HOTEL's Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster resolves through a transformation from human to non-human, from irrational state to ecstatic state and towards a spiritual realm.

“Nicola Gunn’s theatre is tantalising, entertaining, ridiculous and often bewildering in the best possible way.” - Herald Sun
