Black Swan State Theatre Company says
Black Swan invites you to witness award-winning playwright, Tommy Murphy’s script reading of 'People Smuggling'.

Tommy Murphy returns to Black Swan to present a one-off play reading of 'People Smuggling' – a Rio Tinto Black Swan Commission. Actors have workshopped the script and are now ready to read it in front of an audience for the first time. Don't miss this opportunity to hear a new work in development from one of Australia's premier playwrights.

About 'People Smuggling'
When Anna, a young Human Rights lawyer reaches out to players from a visiting Afghan soccer team, she finds herself in too deep. When she hides two of the men in her mother’s house, her mother hits the roof. The comforts of home are shaken. The law comes knocking. Deceits pile up. Hidden agendas culminate in disaster. Finally there is nowhere to run.

Inspired by real events, this surprisingly comic and urgent story dramatises diverse political points of view in a riveting human drama set in the familiar environs of a Perth family home. The starkly original characters are pushed to their brink in this action packed and, at times, harrowing drama.
