Sound Paper says
Thank you to everyone who came to our last event, SAFE. We had a great night. It was amazing to hear from everyone, using their voices to make SOUND out of things they had previously written down on PAPER.
Wait, what? Did someone say… AWWW YEAHHH I DID!

Spoken Word Perth and The Laundry Man, are proud to present the return of SOUND PAPER, where live music meets spoken word in a clash of free jamming and eclectic slamming.

Founded in 2015 by The Laundry Man, Sound Paper is an event where musicians and soundscapers play extended, improvised sets while poets perform their words, creating a powerful collaboration like Chocolate and Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter and Jelly, or Tegan and Sara.

As with previous Sound Papers, we encourage performers to bring us something new. Whether that means something rough and raw or just something you’ve never written before, we want to hear it. And we want to set it to music.

Join us on WEDS 20th July and sound off on the open mic. 10 OPEN MIC SPOTS AVAILABLE. Five minutes each. Five will be available on our Facebook an hour before the event, and five at the venue. Make sure to be on time if you want to secure one
Speaking of sounding off, the first half of the event will feature More Options performing musical hand gestures alongside open mic’ers followed by a feature set. The second half will feature a special surprise musical guest, a spate of open mic performers and poetry from the exceptionally-fringed and talented, KAI SCHWEIZER. Be prepared for music, poetry, scarves, cushions and a palpable sense of something happening.

MCs, THE LAUNDRY MAN and JESSIE APPLEYARD (Human Fruit) will also be on hand to introduce poets, musicians and various non-native species to the adorable Paper Mountain common room.

Don’t forget to keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram @spokenwordperth for more from Sound Paper founder, The Laundry Man, in the lead up to the event.
We hope to see you.
