At the end of World War II a group of young American university students felt alienated by society's stifling conventionality and rampant materialism. With Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs at its core, the Beat Generation expressed their anti-establishment attitudes through their dress, lifestyle and art, developing a reputation as new bohemian hedonists. They fashioned a literature that was bold, straightforward and expressive.

For five nights only, this new production features WAAPA’s graduating third year acting students collaborating with third year jazz students to explore the cultural impact of this highly influential movement. Presenting a series of vignettes, TheBeat Generation is an intimate group-devised promenade performance through the rooms and studios of FAC.
