In a career at The New York Times that has spanned two decades, Frank Bruni has been the paper’s Rome bureau chief, head restaurant critic, White House correspondent, and staff writer for its Sunday magazine, among other positions. In 2011 he became the Times’ first openly gay op-ed columnist. Before these successes he was a Pulitzer Prize-nominated writer for the Detroit Free Press. Bruni’s first two books, Ambling into History: The Unlikely Odyssey of George W. Bush and Born Round: The Secret History of a Full-Time Eater, met with critical acclaim and wide popularity. Where You Go is Not Who You’ll Be dismantles the myth that a student’s future depends on the current university admissions process and presents a healthier approach to higher learning.
