Portrait Of A Woman

Come to our 1st First Friday opening of 2015!! Gravy Studio & Gallery presents "Portrait of a Woman," an examination of several incarnations of femininity by fiber artist Aubrie Costello and photographer Brae Howard. Costello works with silk and curated quotes from women to create “graffiti” installations that illustrate their anonymous reflections. Howard utilizes the female nude against a number of settings and props to explore a multitude of female personas. Costello and Howard have also created a series of collaborative pieces for the series. With "Portrait of a Woman," the artists hope to reveal the true essence of the women they've worked with and conjure the multifaceted personalities and complexities of their female subjects.
