Time Out says
As part of the Sanctuary Series, Fleisher's free Wednesday evening program, join us for a talk in advance on the Shroud of Turin in advance of its display in Italy later this year.
'The Shroud' is the alleged burial cloth of Jesus, and since its first historical appearance at the end of the 14th century it has baffled scientists, irritated skeptics, and awed believers. Carbon dating in 1988 dated the linen to 1260-1390, yet recent evidence published in peer-reviewed scientific journals has shown convincingly that measurements were actually carried out on a medieval re-weave, thus triggering new speculations and interest in the Shroud.
This talk, led by Dr. Salvatore Mangione, will review the historical, chemical, and physical evidence, and also what the linen may tell us about the death of the Man-of-the-Shroud. They are all questions that remain fascinating to believers and non-believers alike.
