Marina Kenny will be teaching our regular classes with me next week (Monday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 18), and also giving a special two-hour tango technique seminar (men & women welcome!) on Thursday, March 19. BIO Born in Lincoln, Buenos Aires, Marina Kenny discovered tango at age 18 in the city of Rosario. Since then, she has trained with the most recognized tango teachers of the country. She has also studied modern dance, ballet and contact improvisation, and has taken part in several investigation groups in bodywork. In addition to having a solid dance background, Marina is also trained as a music therapist and yoga instructor. Since moving to Buenos Aires in 2007, Marina has taught weekly classes and special workshops in some of the most recognized studios, and performed in many of the most famous milongas. These include: Viva la Pepa Milonga, Practica X, Tango Brujo, Salón Canning, El Esquinazo and Milonga 10, amoung others. For the past four years, Marina has been touring to teach and perform tango worldwide, including in Canada, México, Poland, and China, as well as in many cities throughout the US. In addition to giving weekend workshops, she has been featured in a number of festivals. As a performer, Marina stands out for her refined technique, precision and expressiveness. Her knowledge of other artistic disciplines gives her a very personal style. While respecting the traditional tango essence, she also shows mastery of the most contemporary elements of this dance. As a professional tango teacher, Marina is clear and accurate in her description of technical concepts, transmitting her knowledge in a way that is easy for students to understand and relate to. Her goal is to help students acquire the tools and knowledge to be able to express themselves freely in the dance.
