The monthly BYOB (“Bring Your Own Bard”) Shakespeare reading series is back!

Storyteller Alan Irvine will emcee.

Extra readings will be on hand in case last-minute inspiration strikes. Kids welcome. Beverages and light fare available for purchase.

BYOB features classic scenes, monologues and poetry from Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets read by members of Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks’company and audience members at the Te Café, 2000 Murray Ave. (at Beacon Ave) in Squirrel Hill.

Doors open at 7:15 PM, readings begin at 7:30 PM. Suggested $10 donation at the door.

Participants are welcome to bring a prepared piece; test their mettle by jumping into a soliloquy or scene provided by the evening’s hosts, Storyteller Alan Irvine and Artistic Director Jennifer Tober. Or sit back with a cup of tea and just enjoy.

BYOB is Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks’ informal scene night in which professional actors and non-actors alike take a crack at their favorite Shakespeare pieces.

BYOB takes place the last Monday of every month, January – June. The 2015 BYOB season continues with:

PITTSBURGH SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARKS is the city’s only outdoor Shakespeare company and has been offering free Shakespeare productions in city parks since 2005. Now in its 11th season, PSIP has entertained thousands of patrons in city parks since its inception.
