Ace Hotel Pittsburgh is humbled to host the work of one of Steel City's favorite sons: the late great photographer Charles "Teenie" Harris.

Born in 1908, Harris took photos for the Pittsburgh Courier, one of America's preeminent black newspapers, for nearly 40 years—amassing an archive of 80,000+ images, and capturing unprecedented documentation of 20th Century Pittsburgh's black urban experiences.

We've partnered up with the Carnegie Museum of Art to present East Liberty in Focus, a special selection of the images Harris snapped in and around East Liberty — some even shot on the very site of Ace Hotel Pittsburgh, in the former East Liberty YMCA. Opening night festivities go down Saturday, December 19, with help from CMOA Teenie Harris Archive Specialist Charlene Foggie-Barnett, poet Dr Tameka Cage Conley, historian and author John M Brewer Jr, DJ Soy Sos, and musicians Idasa Tariq and Jacquea Mae. We'd be happy to have you join us.
