With the slogan “the only bar with a wood-fired stove in Rio,” Capiau is located in Beco das Sardinhas, in Largo de Santa Rita, and is yet another venture by Raphael Vidal (of Bafo da Prainha, Casa Porto, and Dois de Fevereiro) helping to revitalize Rio’s Port Zone.
From breakfast to crispy pork belly and "carne na lata", a traditional countryside-style preserved meat, slow-cooked at low temperature, there's something for everyone. A must-try. The menu as a whole is a celebration of rural Brazilian cuisine.
Among the bar snacks, you’ll find portions of sardines, pork cracklings, fried chicken, sausage, pork ribs, and real-deal French fries.
There are also daily specials, served Tuesday through Friday. Dishes include Kaol (a typical dish from Belo Horizonte, short for cachaça, rice, egg, and sausage), country-style chicken, stewed meats, and feijão gordo (a hearty bean dish), each featured on a different day.
