2015 Take Action Conference says

This conference is a dynamic and interactive development opportunity that gives attendees the components and resources needed to be competent in domestic violence awareness and advocacy. The conference will focus on four central components for competency: Diversity, Awareness, Leadership, and Advocacy. The guiding foundation for the conference is to cover issues of Domestic Violence, Leadership Development, and an encompassing Cross Cultural education.

TARGET AUDIENCE: This conference is appropriate for high school, college students, parents, and survivors of domestic violence.

The Takes Action Conference will provide information to those who might not be adequately informed about healthy personal safety strategies or who may lack the awareness of community resources in order to get out of an abusive/unhealthy relationship more quickly. Our leadership program serves as a resource in educating, training, and motivating our community to address critical problems and inspire our youth to take action and make a difference in the world. This program is a critical part of our organization’s educational mission to develop community activists who possess a comprehensive understanding on the issue of domestic violence. During the conference, there will be several workshops to choose from for attendees including but not limited to: Love Shouldn't Hurt: Warning Signs and Red Flags, A Look Into the Emergency Room, Bystander Intervention, The Power of Sharing Your Story, Leadership and Our Journey, and Self-Defense Techniques to name a few.

The broad range of topics will further empower our attendees to take charge of their own health and safety. That feeling of not feeling safe can be a huge ripple effect on health, and our organization alongside the vision of Live Well San Diego is striving to improve the quality of life for all.
