On July 6,1974, author and radio host Garrison Keillor hosted the first broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion in St. Paul. Live every Saturday night, the show features comedy sketches, music, and Garrison Keillor’s signature monologue, “The News from Lake Wobegon.” Be a part of a live radio broadcast when A Prairie Home Companion visits beautiful downtown San Diego. Chris Thile will join Garrison as co-host of this special broadcast. Garrison is working with Chris throughout the 15-16 season as a possible future host of “A Prairie Home Companion”. Chris Thile has appeared numerous times on APHC, from his first appearance at the age of 15 in 1996, having been playing since he was five. A virtuoso mandolinist and native of San Diego county, Chris is one-third of the band Nickel Creek with Sara and Sean Watkins, founder of the Punch Brothers, and is a frequent collaborator with bassist Edgar Meyer.
