Famous Firsts: King Kong With Kong Doc Long Live The King! says

Warner Brothers -- the studio behind Kong: Skull Island -- has placed an embargo on ALL screenings of the original King Kong until after June of this year. Therefore we had to cancel this title and instead will be showing Jean-Luc Godard's Breathless. There will be a new Meetup for that. We will post about options for tickets if your purchased any for King Kong. You can always get a refund or come on Friday for Breathless or just hold onto your Kong tickets until July.

#FilmGeeksSD kicks off its Famous Firsts at MOPA with KING KONG (1933). We celebrate this as the first feature talkie to use stop motion animation and special effects to open up a world of possibilities on film. See what kickstarted a legacy that will continue with the new film Kong: Skull Island this March!

Enjoy this glorious film in MOPA's gorgeous cinema with its magical twinkle lights above. Thrill to Kong fighting prehistotic creatures and climbing the Empire State Building.

If that were not enough, we will also screen a brand new documentary exploring the influence of King Kong on cinema, featuring notable filmmakers and artists like Joe Dante, Greg Nicotero, Doug Jones, and Bob Burns. The documentary directors Frank Dietz and Trish Geiger will be in attendance for a Q&A!

Beth Accomando and Miguel Rodriguez will introduce the film and hold a trivia contest with prizes. Join the fun and geek out about movies with us.
