Are you a self taught bedroom DJ, or someone already playing out in the scene and looking for more of break? Do you want to take your passion to the masses? Do you have what it takes to play in front of a huge nightclub?

Well we have a DJ contest for you! Hillcrest Social, Guitar Center & Rich’s San Diego are teaming up for the Hillcrest Social DJ Contest.

1st Prize: 1 Pair of 750 Shure DJ Headphones, $175 Guitar Center gift card, $150 Cash from Hillcrest Social, 1 DJ set at Rich's in front of the largest/high res LED wall in San Diego

2nd prize: 1 Pair of 750 Shure DJ Headphones, $75 Guitar Center gift card

2 Runner Ups: May 27th Semi Final Prize is a pair of 550 Shure DJ Headphones

Style: Electro, EDM, House, Trance, Dance, Hip Hop, Trap, Pop, Top 40, Old School

Contest: Each week, a dj will play a 20 minute set. You will compete against 3-4 dj's per night. and the top 2 of night will advance to the next round.
Starts Wednesday April 22nd. and goes 6 weeks. Semi final round: May 27th. Final round: The final two DJ's will advance to Out at the Fair June 13th - DJ Battle at the Coor's/Richs Stage at 8:30pm.

Judging: Panel of 3 celebrity judges, scoring based on: Technical Skills, Style, Crowd Interaction/Participation, Mixing, Energy, Beat matching, Music Selection and Creativity. Judges will have score cards based on above categories and the dj's with the highest scores will move on to next round.

Requirements: 21+ - application filled out with: Pic, Name, Bio, What type of equipment, Where you spin, Sample mix of at least 20 minutes (must provide sample mix to be considered) - Sign up form is on the Hillcrest Social website www.HillcrestSocial.net

Disclaimer... some Dj's who have already entered keep asking what are they judged on... again..

Scoring is based on: Technical Skills, Style, Crowd Interaction/Participation, Mixing, Energy, Beat matching, Music Selection and Creativity.

with that said... the winner will DJ in a CLUB setting. this is NOT DMC championships.. if you stare at your computer the whole 20 minutes without engaging the crowd, or to check if your beats are matching, then you will not advance. regardless of how great your scratching or style is. CAN YOU keep your crowd engaged and can you take US on a JOURNEY through different genres????? the points are based on ALL of the above, not just one aspect.
