98 Bottles says
There are singers, and then there are jazz singers. There is something to be admired in a Jazz singer: phrasing, inflection, timing, improvisational skill or just pure tone and feel, SWING.

Lorraine Castellanos invites you to join her and a wonderful collection of musicians to explore the various singers and their styles in two-part series: "The Jazz Singers." Expect a musical exploration of those artists who set the standard such as Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday, to those that upped the ante with scatting and extended harmonic exploration (Ella Fitgerald, Anita O'Day, Sarah Vaughan), and those that fused Jazz with the spirit of the musical, cultural, and political landscape (Nina Simone, Elis Regina). Some tunes of the familiar Great American Songbook will be given a nice treatment, along with some obscure ones.

Featuring Ed Korhauser, Robert Dove, Curtis Taylor, Dean Hulett, and Ryan Shaw.

$20 online tickets are available at http://lcsextet.bpt.me until 5PM PST on the evening of the event. If the show has not reached full capacity, the remaining tickets will be available at the door for $25. Catch both performances for the discounted price of $35 (advance purchase only). 21+ only.

Food and drinks served beginning at 7:00; $10 minimum per person.
