Made By X says
Learn directly from local artists at Made by X, a new event for MCASD Members and friends. Guests will explore artistic materials and processes over conversation and cocktails.

The first Made by X will be led by artists Eva Struble and Scott Polach. Taking MCASD's Downtown space as a point of departure, Struble and Polach will lead a site-specific workshop that reflects the confluence of their two practices in installation, painting, and photography. The duo will guide participants as they create their own work of art based on the place and history surrounding MCASD's downtown location.

Eva Struble's work was featured at MCASD in the 2014 exhibition, Produce. Her paintings deal with landscape through the lens of social and environmental histories in cities where she has lived. Struble's colorful work undermines traditional perspectives and modes of depth in the genre using oil, acrylic, and screen-printing methods in various combinations.

Through primarily lens-based media, Scott Polach's work investigates how perceptions of landscapes relate to public policies and personal viewpoints. He is an artist, curator, and educator, and has shown work locally at the Museum of Photographic Arts, The Oceanside Museum of Art, and Helmuth Projects, among others.

Made by X is $35 for Members, and $50 for non-member guests. PLEASE NOTE: Non-member guests must be accompanied by an MCASD Member. Space is limited, early registration is suggested.

Members can only access tickets to MCASD Member-only events when logged into the Member portal. If you're not familiar with the Member portal, please visit and create your login today. Questions? Call Senior Membership and Annual Giving Manager April Farrell at 858 454 3541 x162.
