This month's speaker is Margaret Johnson from the Sanford Harmony program.

Note that we have now returned to our old home at the Crowne Plaza San Diego - Mission Valley! We will have fellowship in the Islands Lounge at 5:30pm and move into dinner and club business at 6pm.

About the Program:
Sanford Harmony empowers PreK-6 grade teachers to foster better relationships among students by using pedagogical tools to integrate simple and fun exercises into the classroom.

About the Speaker:
Margaret Johnson is the Lead Ambassador for Training and Implementation for the Sanford Education Center at National University. She began her career as an Elementary Teacher, Reading Specialist, and Early Childhood Coordinator. She attended the California Writing Project and has led extensive reading and writing workshops and conference presentations throughout the country. Margaret has also served as an Educational Consultant for IBM. She was a mentor teacher and K-12 Curriculum and Staff Development Specialist for the Hacienda La Puente School District. As the Director of Curriculum and Staff Development for the Little Lake City School District, she organized district training and led strategic planning efforts. Margaret joined the San Diego Unified School District as the Principal of Ocean Beach Elementary. During that time her school was recognized twice as a CA Distinguished School, designated as a CA Exemplary Arts School by the California Department of Education, received multiple awards as a Title 1 Academic Achievement School, and was nominated as a National Blue Ribbon School. She has received numerous awards and was twice honored as a teacher of the year, mentor teacher, and received the California Reading Association Celebrate Literacy Award and Los Angeles Country curriculum and staff development awards.

Margaret embodies the values of harmony, inclusion, and compassion in all that she does for children, teachers, families, and the community. She is passionate about building nurturing learning communities where economically diverse, ethnically rich, and ideologically different children learn and support one another in a harmonious environment. Margaret has a Bachelor of Science and teaching credential from UCLA. She completed her work for a masters in Early Childhood at Long Beach State University and received her Masters in Administration at Azusa Pacific University. Margaret also serves Adjunct Professor in Educational Administration teaching curriculum leadership for National University.
