Snow Bike Festival

Billing itself as Europe’s first winter snow biking festival, this event (which launched last year in Engelberg) will bring competitors and cycling enthusiasts from all over Europe to Gstaad to celebrate the burgeoning sport of snow biking. Like mountain biking only using specially made bikes with ‘fat’ tires able to grip on snow, snow biking has been popular in the US for a while but has only recently taken off in Europe. And it’s set to be this winter’s new craze. Watch the professionals compete in various races including a night race before trying it out for yourself in the two-hour-long fun ride on the Sunday. There’s also a snow bike Expo and plenty of partying. Bikes can be hired from various sports shops in the region.
