In a year where prices for African art have sky rocketed and major art institutions have started investing in art from the continent (the Tate bought work by Meschac Gaba and exhibited Ibrahim El Salahi this year, alongside a program of African-art focused events), London is also getting treated to its first contemporary African art fair. Designed by architect David Adjaye in Somerset House, the fair will show work from galleries across Africa with artists including Goncalo Mabunda, Soly Cissé and Aboudia among many others. With its program of talks and events, it's a powerful counterpoint to Frieze that is definitely worth taking note of.
