Time Out says

A sculptural video installation forms a portrait of a Londoner and his marginal movement.

Through an installation of archival material, appropriated objects and a film, Matt Stokes brings to life the alternative belief system of a man he met when he was casting people for his 2010 Art on the Underground project, ‘The Stratford Gaff: A Serio-Comick-Bombastick-Operatick Interlude’. Charlie Seber an east Londoner discontent with his job on a building site in the 1980s created his movement Truth, Reality, Activism and even wrote a situational comedy for radio about his personal unorthodox quest. Stokes and Seber reworked the script for the video ‘Madman in a Lifeboat’, which forms an essential aspect to the show.
