Stan Douglas: Disco Angola

New York's underground 1970s disco scene is presented alongside images of a recently independent Angola on the verge of civil war. Yet the Canadian artist's latest photographic series weren’t shot in the 1970s, but last year. Douglas takes on the guise of a fake photojournalist who documented these seemingly disparate scenes making you take note of the African country’s cultural influence on the New York scene of the time.
