  • Oh dear, (self) hyped as a brazilian bar, the reality is a venue that resembles a cross between a 70's cruise liner disco and a bultins nightmare dancefloor. A horrible, harsh sound system that hurts the ears. I don't think one member of staff is from anywhere remotely south american. As for the handful of clientelle there, a mixture of suits, essex kids, and a clueless tourist or two. This place is as Brazilian as a packet of nuts from sainsburys. I'll be sticking to bar salsa in charring cross from now on where at least it tries to be authentic.

  • Got there before my girlfriend and all of her mates on a Saturday night, with 2 mates, only for the bouncer to say mixed groups only with a smile on his face. When I explained I was on the guest list and my girlfriend with 12 mates (all girls) were due any minute, I was reluctantly let in, with 1 mate following. However, my other mate was refused entry and when asked why, all 3 bouncers, including the manager (supposedly) all just said "we reserve the right to refuse entry", with no further explanation. My mate was not drunk and had done nothing wrong. It was extremely frustrating that no explanation was offered and it ruined the night as the 2 had to go home. On a previous night out there my girlfriend had forgot to pick up her (expensive) coat from the cloakroom. I went there after work on the Monday after calling them to pick it up and was told its in a locked room, come back tomorrow. When I arrived the next day the coat had mysteriously disappeared, despite the fact we had spoken to someone who said they had it in front of them the previous day. Avoid at all costs - bouncers like that are out to ruin a few people's night with the hope of some 'action'. Once inside it wasn't much better, boring music, too busy and expensive drinks.

  • My friend and I made the mistake of going for the dish on the menu that claimed to be a speciality - and Brazil's national dish - it wasnt very warm, there was very little meat and for £15 it didnt meet our expectations....However, the passion fruit mousse was superb, next time I'm just having dessert! 5 stars for pudding, entertainment, cocktails and atmosphere but the main courses let it down...

  • The worst service I have ever experienced eating in London. Having read the reviews I thought I would give it the benefit of a doubt and try. First impressions: a dark sweatbox with a terrible tinny sound system! The music is really loud and my group were shouting at each other across the table. People were leaving they're coats/drinks on our table and walking off. The dancefloor spilled into the eating area and we had several dancing bums in our faces whilst sitting down. After 45 minutes the food came. They gave our food to the table next to us which they began to pick at... the staff then realised they had given someone else our food and took it off their table and brought it to us. Unbelievable and very unprofessional!! Told them to take it away because we wanted fresh food. They came back with reheated crap within 5 mins and rudely lied to us saying it was fresh!!!! Left without paying for a thing and thank god I had a plan b for my birthday otherwise my night would have been completely spoiled! Monkeys could run this joint better.

  • The food and drinks were excellent. The service, when we got it, was great. However the time to get served was excessive. It took over twenty minutes to have our orders taken and and hour to get our first round of drinks and food (in which time we lined at the bar for 15 minutes and bought two rounds of drinks in a bucket to avoid a second trip). I just think you were very understaffed last night, but overall it was a great night.

  • The food was really tasty! I was surprised how huge the portions were! I was very impressed with the staff, friendly and attentive. Very good service! Capoira guys who did the show were brilliant!!! Music was ok, I would expect bit more Brazilian though. It was in the beginning but then it changed to commercial/ chart music which is not my favourite one. Overall it was really good experience! We would visit again! Thanks!

  • I booked a Saturday night dinner with my boyfriend as he had a groupon to spend, we chose from the caipirinha menu, the food was great, especially the stake we ask, and dessert chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream also came with a caipirinha and a starter of chorizo. very good food for the price we pay best part was that they let us keep the table as our booking was made after 8:30 pm, drink prices are reasonable, considering that is close to Covent Garden. the night went very well, there was exhibition of capoeira, Samba, live music, many people dancing. I hope to return soon!

  • It was a great experience, the drinks, atmosphere and music were fantastic and we all felt we had a good time although I must say the food was not as good as the other aspects I have mentioned and is something allot of people say by word of mouth however the overall experience overshadowed this and I'm sure my colleagues and I will be coming back.

  • I had a great time at Guanabara for my friend's hen night. The living music was a delight, playing samba beat into the night and in the early hours of the morning the commercial tunes kicked in. Great. There are only two things wrong with this venue. The drinks are horrendously overpriced and the long tables reserved for diners took up half the dance space. Another small matter was the fee (£10) which the manager promised would be wavered as my friend managed to negotiate earlier in the week. When we arrived we had to haggle with the bouncer to let us in for free. But nevertheless the live music and the guys are worth it!

  • A first glance the club is full of energy and fun, but as the night went on the security guard showed his ugly side and threatened to bet up my boyfriend because I was dancing on the table (like everyone else) but got down as soon as he told me too. Later on, when my boyfriend asked him to remove other people who were dancing on the table and to confront him for is unprofessionalism my boyfriend was escorted off the premises. The night manager had no interest in hearing our side of the story and even though we were cooperation there were about 5 other security guards around us. IF YOU WANT TO BE THREATENED AND DISRESPECTED GO TO GUANABARA! THIS CLUB GETS ZERO STAR RATINGS!!!
