2 Love It

Don’t be fooled by the all-singing, all-dancing slickness of the Hemingford’s website: the pub itself is something of a shambles, and much the better for its idiosyncracies.

Nothing much changes here: a baffling multitude of jumble-sale pub ephemera still hangs from the walls and the ceilings, the food is still stomach-lining Thai, the three or so ales are still good enough, and the locals are still a pleasingly talkative and egalitarian mix of classes and ages.

Events run from quiz night to a weekly bluegrass session (Mondays from around 9pm), but many of the regulars only have eyes for the big-screen football. Any semblance of a sign outside has long since been covered by the ivy that drapes over almost every inch of the frontage.

Fantastic local boozer. Friendly staff and locals. Entertainment every night. Traditional Irish music. Great Thai food.

One of the best boozers in the capital. Ales are well served, atmosphere lively and warming and the lighting nicely dark.

and big screen Rugby and Cricket and the best Vodka Lime & Soda and the non-sporting regulars and the bar staff and more........
