The Old School Yard

The Old School Yard is a London Bridge party bar where the cocktails keep flowing and the tunes are turned up loud. Expect after work happy hour, karaoke and entertainment aplenty at this fun bar with a camp as you like school disco theme. Just as retro is The Old School Yard's Wii nights, where arm swinging is absolutely encouraged.

Cannot think of a better bar to have fun in, retro games to play, great music, cool staff, best happy hour for cocktails, my personally favourite is Pisco sour

When I first moved to London (10 years ago from the heart of the country: Wolverhampton) I was all about hitting the clubs in central London to impress my Midlands companions back home. So many nights spent ("spent" being a key work here...more like overspent!) in key tourist hotspot nightclubs in Picadilly, Leicester Square and many other camera filled areas (cameras...remember them?!). It took me a good 3 years to realise...this is not cool, this is not the true London. Then I started to venture outside the zone 1 area: Stockwell, Clapham, Greenwich (I'm South of the river girl) UNTIL I FOUND THIS BEAUTY! The Old School Yard: Cocktails, Retro, Music from all eras and not a tourist in sight (I love tourists but we all need our breaks from them sometimes). Fantastic locals fill the joint, with the most fun, caring and enthusiastic bar staff. In one night you can drink your posh nosh cocktails and still get a few unclassy beers down your neck. In one night you can dance your booty to Beyonce, sing out to Oasis and strut your uncle's dance moves to James Brown! In one night you can chat, play retro games and still have to limp home from too much dancing. Also what I love about this place is that its small ("Cosy" is a better word for it) where by the end of the night you may have befriended everyone in the joint. With todays push towards 90's fashion its time to put down your cassette players and bad floral tops and head on down to the real deal! Long live this Old School Yard on Long Lane!

I’ve had some great nights at The Old School Yard. Great place, great people, great drinks, great music what else could anyone ask for (I haven’t found any place that sells a better Cosmopolitan!!)

Let's start off with the not so great... This place needs a renovation.... That's all. Its just a tad been "worn" for my liking but other than that its a good time kinda place.

I booked a private karaoke room for a girl's night out last weekend and damn what a night it was!

Their song selection needs updating and a lot of the tracks had backup singers on the track which I didn't like as I prefer to struggle through the song all on my own but the room did have a huge fan which kept us all cool and sexy!

Their happy hour took us all over the edge lol and the bar staff were amazing!! The DJ played jams till closing hour and everyone got down with it! Including the bartenders and security guards! Lol what a night

Go! You won't regret it!

We went there a couple of weeks ago for my partner's leaving drinks from work. I believe we were around 30 people at some point and it was a fun night. Staff was very friendly and patient helping us choose through the list of tasty cocktails and they had Estrella Damn beer which made my night :) They also have some consoles to play, flipper and and a Ninja Turtles pizza menu and fussball which kept the all party entertained all through the night. Music was not amazing, but not impossible to bear either - mostly tunes from the 90s that people could sing along to.

This too me, is the best bar I go to in London, great bar staff, retro games, fab cocktails, its a one off, highly recommended!

The drinks and bar staff are nice, but the manager is very rude and off-putting. Never experienced anything like it. My friend and I had been sitting at a small table drinking for about two hours, when the manager came over and told us we'd have to move so they could use our table to make another table bigger, as a big group had just come in (not reserved, just a walk-in group). When we questioned why we had to leave for them, he became confrontational and hostile, being weirdly aggressive and, frankly, quite mean and demeaning to us. Among other things, he demanded we produce identification (we're both in our late twenties) and told us he would call security. The whole experience was quite jarring and scary. I've just seen some other reviews on Tripadvisor speaking of similar experiences, and I'm not sure how this man still works there. One of the reviews mentioned how the bar staff clearly felt so uncomfortable with his behaviour that they gave the reviewer free shots to try to silently apologise, which is exactly what they did in our case as well. The managers actions are clearly an ongoing problem, and th staff is obviously aware. There are loads of nice other lovely places in London Bridge, so between this (and the fact that the whole places is slightly sticky and in need of a scrub) will not being going back. 👎
