This popular central London boozer is a good place to drink and an even better place to party. The venue hosts numerous club nights and nightlife events that are focused firmly on full-fat fun. Highlights of the packed party calendar include 'massaoke' (mass-karaoke) singalong Friday I'm In Love, miserablist pop and indie night Feeling Gloomy (actually very fun and not really miserable, by the way) and Rockaoke, a rock and power ballad-driven singalong night.

Let's get reeeeeady to… er, grumble? Old timers Don and Reg have had enough of those fresh-faced youngsters clogging up dancefloors all over the capital, they're making some space for the golden oldies in the heart of city. How? With a strict no under-28s...Until Saturday October 3 2015Read more
Eternal pessimists – and proud of it – the Feeling Gloomy crew spin a regular soundtrack of gloom-tinted (but still hugely enjoyable) pop. Think Blondie to Bowie, Abba to The Clash, The Smiths to the Scissor Sisters, Bonnie Tyler to Joy Division. Get...Until Sunday November 8 2015Read more

Great Big Kiss
After the sad closure of north London indie hangout the Buffalo Bar late last year, indie night Great Big Kiss – which ran for four years at the Buffalo – has relocated to central London boozer The Phoenix. But don't worry, loyal GBK fans, as it's still...Saturday September 12 2015 - Sunday December 13 2015Read more

This gig created by Eric Lampaert (who appears alongside regulars Will Seaward and Matthew Highton) features a cast of comics recreating famous movies. Don't expect their versions to be entirely faithful, though – the CCC's movies are chaotic, alcohol-fuelled...Improv Tuesday September 15 2015 - Tuesday November 17 2015Read more
Friday I'm In Love
This popular singalong club night allows punters to belt out their favourite indie and pop anthems from the '80s and '90s. Finding a good pub near Oxford Street is harder than it seems. Luckily, there's the Phoenix. Tucked behind the back of John Lewis, it's always got happy folk having an after work drink and a good atmosphere.
As you can expect, it's pricey for what it is. Sure, it's a nice place, but the girls loos are shoddy and the drinks aren't the most diverse. But it's a reliable place to take friends or dates and it's never done me wrong.
If it seems a little busy, stick with it. The crowd at the Phoenix are a "quick pint" kind of crew. A table will open up soon enough.
Nice pub around the back of Oxford Street, particularly good for a post-shopping cool down; Eg. "I can't believe I tried on a little under 40 pairs of Chelsea boots today, and I still think I should've bought the first pair" type thing...
The craft cocktails are great, a fiver if you get them between 4 and 7pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. 'Dusk' is really good - Vodka, jasmine tea and white peach = yummy!
Amazing quiz nights, even have their own resident rapper to sing out mystery pop star biographies. Good night all in all.
