Trinity Arms

On a charmingly old-fashioned square backing the main drag of Brixton you'll find this Young's pub. It's primed for slightly more peaceful pre-gig pints, even if it doesn't quite live up to its old-timey setting. It does, however, have all the components of a reliable boozer – a heated patio out front for smokers, a horseshoe bar for perching and plush armchairs to settle into for longer sessions – although its adorably rugged pub carpet has been ditched, presumably in favour of getting with the times. Staff aren't the sharpest, particularly when the bar is heaving (as it will be for any evening visit later on in the week), but that's hardly an issue when you're popping in for a swifty before hitting the Academy. They pour a few enticing Young’s Ales as well as continental lagers.

Always was a great boozer but got uncomfortably busy at the weekends and needed a refurb. Been a few times since it reopened and must say it's been done really, really well - kept it's soul but had a facelift and been extended upstairs to include a dining area/room if you want a quiet bite.
The all new tardis-like garden is smaller I think but weirdly seats more undercover!? And includes a FIREPIT!! Menu has been revamped well, more staff than before so service is quicker and all the regulars are back which is a good sign. Bit of a result really because so many pubs get a refurb that doesn't work and end up going under. Can't see that happening here!
Highly recommend, especially if a civilised but cool pint is your thing. Well done Trinity, well done Young's.

This is just the best pubby pub in Brixton. Really cozy, lovely staff, amazing manager and a good range of drinks. The food menu is decent for a pub that isn't a restaurant and there's a lovey garden out the back for the warmer days and nights. It's nicely tucked away but has become more and more popular over the past 4ish years so the atmosphere has a great buzz now. Get there early if you plan to stay for the evening so you can bag a seat by the fire.

Great pub and away from busy Brixton streets. Cosy little garden and fabulous staff.
